The Plastic Fat

Any oil – rancid, old, new, deteriorated or otherwise - can be used to produce a palatable, eye-appealing spread. The end result is a useless, counterfeit, synthetic, plastic, celluloid-like harmful chemical concoction.

Margarine has other drawbacks. It is a synthetic product, being a hydrogenated vegetable fat. The hydrogenation destroys all associated vitamins or phospholipids. As it comes from the hydrogenator it is admittedly unfit for food, has a vile odor and must be “refined”. The margarine, after the bad odors have been removed, and after flavored with milk products to imitate butter, must then be preserved with a poisonous chemical, sodium benzoate, to keep it from developing a bad flavor.

Hydrogenated oil is a synthetic chemical compound or plastic. There is neither justification, rhyme nor reason for calling it an oil or fat. It is no more an oil suited for human consumption than is celluloid or motor oil or plastic.

It might be interesting to note, and take full cognizance of the fact, when you use margarine here is what you are getting for your money:

· Benzoate of soda

· Dyes or other coloring matter

· Artificial flavoring

· Artificial vitamins

· Saturated fats (hydrogenated fat)

· Pulverized nickel

· Fragmented aluminum

· Other additives (I don’t know how many other

additives there may be)

Yes, these and often more are the “in-the-package” bargain when you purchase a pound of margarine.
